If I were still picking...I'd pick this!!!!

Debbbie Knorr's Houndstooth Alpha, Numbers and Bonus Pack. That just hopped itself right into my shopping cart!  How stinkin' cute is this?

So Long for Now...

As I was working on the year in review post that I had promised you, I began to look over my whole year in review and took a very hard look at my time management.  2007 was a crazy year for me.  I spread myself ridiculously thin to the detriment of my sanity at many points.  So I have had to examine what I do vs. what my goals are and, where the two do not line up, I have had to make some adjustments.  The Altered Art Chicks collaboration has been an unbelievable experience for me and I find that I am most satisfied creatively when the three of us are working together.  We had a great year in 2007 and I know that with more effort and a greater focus we can achieve even greater things in 2008.   Our successes have come, obviously, in the world of altered art and mixed media art and we know that to expand upon those successes we will need to focus our energies in that direction.

What does this have to do with The Digi Pick of the Day?  It's very simple.  To continue to grow and succeed in the altered art world I will need to focus the time I once spent in the digi community there.  My time spent scanning the galleries and shops each day will need to be redirected into their altered counterparts.  I have to be honest in telling you that on many days that there have not been digi picks it has been because I got hung up on the ZNE board or on other altered artist's blogs such as that of Sandra Everston.

I hope you will understand that this is not about there being anything wrong with the world of digital scrapbooking at all.  I love the community and, even though it had some drama in 2007, I still believe it is a very viable industry.  The reality for me, though, is that I've always been a more quirky, on the fringe kind of girl, and I feel that the art I create resonates more with the mixed media altered artists in the world.  I love combining my love of writing and books with my love of vintage images and photoshop manipulation.   I'll still be digi scrapping my heart, out and I will still shop like a fiend!  This blog will stay up and when I do find something that floats my boat I will definitely post here.

I will also keep you up to date as my products are released on AAC.  eMpTy Designs will still be creating awesome quick pages with our designs and we will let you know when they are released as well.  I am absolutely in love with Michelle's first two creations, Altered Year and Little Darlin' Quick Pages.  I'm currently finishing up a set of art papers that I hope will make their way into one of Michelle's upcoming projects.

I've got some other fun web things in the works that I will share as well.   So, I'm not going away, just changing.

It has been a fun 2+ years sharing my daily journey through the galleries and new product releases each day.  I've loved sharing my life with you as well. The best part of all of this has been the comments from those of you who were picked.  Knowing I could make your days a little brighter has been a joy.  Please know that you made my days brighter with your art and your stories and your love

This is not good-bye, just so long for now and thanks for all the fish, LOL.   (If you got that last bit, please leave me a so long comment!!!!)

I'll leave you with a sneak peek of my latest creation, The Morgaine Paper Collection:

Is anyone else bummed that there will be no Golden Globes this weekend? I don't really care about the awards themselves, but the red carpet!!  Can't they just get together and do the red carpet somewhere?????

B1997771df1e63250cc81b2314a0c0c4ima Paper Pack of the Day
I love polka-dots.  I mean really, really love.  I bought a whole paper slab this weekend because there were some polka-dot papers in it!  I also love grungy papers. Maybe it's because they match pictures taken in my home, LOL!!!  Finally someone has joined my two loves.  The result is Emily Merritt's Grungy Polkas. These papers will make a great background that combines the flexibility of a solid with the eye catching appeal of a pattern.  Gotta love a multi-tasker.  Love the colors!!!!

Jbriseboisairlandseaepack350 Element Pack of the Day
Wanna see something really cool?  Then check out Joanne Brisebois' Air Land and Sea . Vehicle themed corrugated paper cutouts?  How inventive is that?  Love it!!!!  These would be really, really fun on some of your vintage layouts in particular.  The balloon is my total fave!!!

2007_12_22_botanicgardenseliza500 Layout of the Day
I'm so glad I had time this morning to do my picks.  There is no better way to start the day than looking at your galleries!  You ladies never fail to make me smile.  JAnderson's Keep on Growing has totally captured my heart today.  How can you fail to smile when looking at these adorable photos?  There are so many great little touches on this layout.  The colors she chose compliment the photos so well and I love the way she clustered her elements.  Check out the "e" monogram.  Very well done!!!!

The cat is out of the bag!!!!

I'm still working on the year in review.  I took the weekend off to go to a crop and get some actual scrapping done. Had a blast!!!  I'm training a new ops manager at work this week so I'll be a bit sporadic.  In the meantime I am so excited that I can finally tell you about our awesome new collaboration at Altered Art Chicks!!!!

I have been a fan of Michelle's writing and scrapping for as long as I have been in the digi community so this is just a dream come true for me!  We look forward to a long and artistically energizing partnership with Michelle!!!!!

Happy New Year!!!!!  I'm still working on my year in review post and will probably put it up sometime over the weekend.  In the meantime how about some new picks?

Fqb_tatteredfrannies_lrg Kit of the Day
Well here's a shocker...I'm picking a kit by Mary Fran!  LOL.  Sorry, I just cannot help myself.  When I see her kits I go nuts.  I seemed to have missed the release of Tattered Frannies , so I'm sorry I didn't post this the very second it came out ;-)  I think the adorable rag dolls totally speak for themselves.  Did you have one like this as a girl?  I sure did and I loved her dearly.  I really like this color combination as well.  The neutrals are always wonderful to have and somehow Mary has managed to create what I would consider a neutral red.  That's certainly something I have to have in my stash since I love red!!!!

Pinktightslayout Layout of the Day
There are a number of fashions that people under the age of 10 can pull off that I wish I could still do.  Among them are brightly colored striped stretch pants, ruffled underwear and tights with sneakers.  j.o.d.i.e. celebrates that last one in her super sweet She Loves Tights. The colors in this layout really pop and I like the idea of capturing this tender age this way.  I know so much about this little girl just from the journaling and the picture of just her shoe and her hot pink tights.  I'm going to have to scraplift this idea and do one about Gracie's Croc fetish ;-)

Someone is coming to Altered Art Chicks....
