Digi Picks 8/10/06

Kit of the Day
As I lay in bed last night trying to fall asleep I was thinking about my friend Jeanine Baechtold. Today is her 35th birthday and I know that can be one of those birthdays that makes you think.  You sit back and look at where you are and where you thought you would be by this time in your life.  That is never a good idea!!  Anyway, I was actually thinking about life before I knew Jeanine, when I first discovered digi scrapping.  One of my very first kit purchases was Jeanine's Calista Collection I remember falling in love with the girly colors and the bows and I especially loved the jewels on the chain.  The part that amazes me is how current this kit still is and how often I go back to it to grab an element or a paper.  As I reviewed my whole Jeanine directory I realized that her kits are truly timeless.  Of them all, though , Calista is still my favorite and I know it will become one of yours.

Layout of the Day
As a child one of my favorite things about summer was watermelon.  As an adult I get to say things like "it doesn't agree with me".  Ah to be young again.  Yenny's DS has no problem eating watermelon and he demonstrates a variety of ways to eat it in Ways How to Eat Melon .  I love the clean lines of this layout.  It has that great whitespace look, but there is still quite a bit going on with this layout.  I love the piece of notebook paper peeking out behind the photo for part of the title.  I also like the effect of the multiple stapes on the tag string.  That's pretty cool.  I'm also digging the effect of having some of the elements run off the page.  I always like that look.  Great job!

Gallery Pick of the Week

Tiffhix gallery at DigiShopTalk is small at the moment, but I'll keep coming back to check on her!  What stands out about her layouts is actually the photography.  It is a reminder to me that I need to improve my picture taking skills overall.  I also applaud the variety in colors and styles she uses.  If you look through my gallery at RAK you'll see that I tend to do the same layout over and over, just moving things around a bit.  I'm not as creative as I would like to be.  Somehow after two years of cruising galleries and a million dollars on magazines my creativity has not improved, LOL!!  Still I know great work when I see it and Tiffhix qualifies in my eyes.  So go check out her gallery and get inspired!!

I loved the kit of the day for 8-22-06. I am out of school a loooonnnnnnng time but it actually made me visualize my first day of school too.
