Digi Picks 6/5/06
Kit of the Day
I have returned from a weekend of scrapping at the Memories Expo and I am sooo tired, but so re-energized. I'll be posting details of the adventure at my personal blog shortly. In the meantime I want to direct your attention to a charity kit that comes from the heart, is for a great cause and is downright gorgeous! Lie Fhung's Resilience will raise funds for the victims of the earthquake in Indonesia on May 27th. The dead now number 6200. The kit is based on the culture and art of the region and it will lend an exotic touch to your scrapping. The colors are rich yet manage to be subtle at the same time. There is some lovely word art which would be perfect for scrapping your own moments of strength in the face of tragedy. The kit will be on sale between June 2nd and July 2nd so make sure you pick it up.
Layout of the Day
When I was a child I had an endless fascination with bubbles. They seemed like some kind of magic. They caught the sunlight and turned it into a million colors then either disappeared in a blink or traveled up to heaven. Meredith McCardall's beautiful daughter seems to share my love and we all can relive those memories with Bubbles Everywhere. I am always a fan of layouts that use more than one photo without creating clutter and this is one of those gems. The photo corners on the focal photo are such a nice touch and I love how the buttons are used to fasten the smaller shots. Note that he buttons are not in exactly the same spot on each photo nor are they perfectly placed. That's called realism folks! I also love the slight white border on the photos that give them that "snapshot" feel. The background paper reminds me of the way bubbles make little splat marks when they burst...great choice of background. Overall just great fun layout.

Thank you so much for choosing my layout! I love the bright colors of this kit and I thought it was perfect for these photos! Thanks for thinking so, too! :)
